Innovative natural Active Luxe cosmetics sets new standards in the market of eco-friendly natural cosmetics
"The development of this new line of natural cosmetics is based on extracting seeds from Slovenian organic pumpkins. We obtained the ingredients through extraction in a special form of CO2, scientifically known as supercritical CO2, which is in liquid form and has excellent solvent properties. The idea for products created through this technological process originated at the Faculty of Pharmacy. In a laboratory environment, we conducted initial CO2 extraction experiments and obtained an ingredient from pumpkin seeds. Pumpkin seeds are a source of numerous cosmetic ingredients, including very important lipophilic substances such as linoleic acid-rich oils, phytosterols, squalene, and carotenoids, which have proven beneficial effects on the skin (photoprotective, antioxidant, emollient, and anti-inflammatory properties). Since supercritical CO2 technology is relatively new, extracts are mostly still obtained using conventional extraction methods—using organic solvents that are often toxic. That's why innovative projects of this kind are crucial. Supercritical CO2 technology is, therefore, a method of the future.
